Comparison

Cadenus vs ClickUp

The Cadenus team · Updated July 2026 · Based on hands-on analysis of public sources

ClickUp is a superb project-management platform — and it cannot publish a single post. Agencies run ClickUp plus a scheduler plus spreadsheets, stitched together by hand. Cadenus replaces that stack for the video-agency loop. Here is the honest breakdown.

This is a different comparison from the social tools: ClickUp doesn't compete with Cadenus on publishing — it competes on where the work lives. Agencies build impressive pipelines in ClickUp: custom statuses, forms, docs, time tracking. Then the finished video leaves for a scheduler, the client approves over email, and the retainer sits in a spreadsheet — three systems, updated by hand, drifting apart. Cadenus' bet is that for a video agency the pipeline, the approval, the publish and the profit belong in one loop. Below is where each genuinely wins.

The limits

Where ClickUp strains for video agencies.

It can't publish anything

ClickUp has calendar templates, content agents and sync tools — but no native connection to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok or any platform. The finished video always leaves ClickUp for another tool, and the moment it leaves, statuses, feedback and reality start drifting apart. In Cadenus, approved content schedules and publishes from the same card it was produced on.

The duct-tape tax

ClickUp for tasks, a scheduler for posting, a spreadsheet for money: three systems, three sources of truth, and a human syncing them. Every handoff is copy-paste; every status exists twice. The stack often costs more than Cadenus — and the syncing time is the expensive part.

See the one-loop alternative

Client review is a guest-seat negotiation

External clients enter as guests with per-item permissions — fine for commenting on a task, but an approval workflow it is not. Guests needing more than comment access can consume a paid seat, and the 2025 guest-billing change made agencies feel it. Cadenus clients click a magic link, watch the cut, and approve — no account, no seat, ever.

See client approvals

None of this makes ClickUp a worse tool — it simply stops where a video agency's work keeps going, which is the gap Cadenus was built to close.

The portal your clients actually see.

The wedge in practice: your client opens a link, watches the video and approves — no account, no new tool to learn.

The honest take

Where each one wins.

Where Cadenus wins

  • Publishing is native: approved videos schedule and ship to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and LinkedIn from the same system.
  • Client approvals through a white-label portal with versioned video review — not guest seats and comment threads.
  • One system instead of three: pipeline, approvals, publishing, reports and per-client P&L in a single loop.
  • Per-client social analytics and Radar creative intelligence — ClickUp has no social data at all.
  • AI included in the plan; ClickUp Brain is $9 per user per month on top, workspace-wide.

Where ClickUp is stronger

  • Near-infinite customizability — any pipeline, any field, any view, for any kind of project.
  • A true all-in-one PM suite: tasks, docs, goals, whiteboards, time tracking, dashboards.
  • Cheap per user ($7–12) with a genuinely useful free tier.
  • Powerful automations, 1,000+ integrations, a public API and an official MCP server.
  • Proofing and annotation on video and image assets for internal creative review.
  • It handles the agency's non-content projects too — website builds, internal ops, anything.

Verdict

Which should you choose?

Choose ClickUp

Pick ClickUp if you need a general-purpose project hub for many kinds of work and you're comfortable wiring publishing, approvals and reporting as separate tools around it.

Choose Cadenus

Pick Cadenus if the work is client video content, end to end — and you'd rather run one loop than synchronize three tools by hand.

Questions

Cadenus vs ClickUp, answered.

Can ClickUp publish to Instagram or TikTok?

No. ClickUp has social-media calendar templates and AI agents that draft content, but no native publishing to any platform — posting always requires a separate scheduler connected via Zapier/Make or manual copy-paste. Cadenus publishes natively to Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and LinkedIn.

Is Cadenus a project management tool like ClickUp?

For video and content work, yes — pipeline, tasks, assignments, capacity and time tracking are built in. For everything else (website builds, internal ops, generic projects), ClickUp is broader. Cadenus is deliberately specialized: the pipeline connects to approval, publishing and money, which a generic PM tool can't do.

Which is cheaper?

ClickUp alone is cheaper (~$210/month for 10 users on Business with Brain AI). But ClickUp alone can't run a social agency — add a scheduler and reporting tool and the realistic stack lands around $320–700 per month, plus the hours spent syncing them. Cadenus Agency is €149 all-in.

What does ClickUp do that Cadenus does not?

Manage any kind of project with extreme customizability: whiteboards, goals, docs at scale, deep automations, 1,000+ integrations. If your agency runs substantial non-content work, ClickUp (or something like it) may still earn a place — next to Cadenus, not instead of it.
